Pccini's Madame Butterfly, which was the peak of the century in western drama history, represented the thought of "orientalism" in the west. With the help of the mind, Westerners formed stereotypes in the sexist and racist of the Orient during the past century. Madame Butterfly became the typical model of oriental women. David henry Hwang, an American Chinese, composed M. Butterfly out of a true story to contrast to Madame Butterfly which represents orientalism. With the help of different interpreting methods and stage expressing patterns, he deeonstructed the stereotype of oriental women in Westerners' eyes, which subverted the original relationship of Western dominance and eastern submissiveness and became an 'other' which was against the Westerm Centralism to manage to reshape the image of the Orient.
