Application of NS in Computer Network Teaching

利用免费的NS2网络仿真软件构建虚拟网络环境,辅助计算机网络教学;提供了一种跨平台使用的直观、准确的计算机网络教学课件的开发方法。采用开源软件可避免在教学过程中产生的软件版权问题,同时NS2的代码完全可见也使网络仿真过程更灵活、透明。丰富的数据分析手段可以对网络仿真的结果进行全面的分析,借助于NS2开发套件中的Gnuplot作图软件还可以对网络跟踪数据进行统计分析。

A new method to assist computer network teaching, which constructs a virtual network environment with the free software： NS2 （ Network Simulator version 2） . This method provides a new way to develop computer network teaching plan, which is more intuitive and more precise than the traditional ways. The usage of open source software avoids the problems caught by the copyright. Because of the code of the NS2 is open to us, which makes the process of network simulation flexible and transparent. There＇are many ways for data analysis, therefore the result of the network simulation can be analyzed in different directions. With the help of the Gnuplot, which contained in the NS2 developer suite, network simulation trace file can get statistical analysis.
