In modern times, the Spanish were the Europeans that followed the Portuguese to trade in Japan. However, Japanese - Spanish trades flourished only in a brief space of time. In most of the time, the trades were bad. There were plenty of factors leading to the situation, such as the conflicts between Japan and Spain in politics, economy and religion, and the competitions and hindrances of other Europeans doing business in Japan.
