＂Auld Lang Syne＂ is the masterpiece of Robert Burns, the famous Scottish peasant poet, with its sincerity and artlessness as well as a beautiful tune, and therefore has won worldwide popularity. From Burns＇ life and historical background, this article analyzes the origin, functions, significance and different versions of the poem, in the hope of making the profound meaning of the poem better understood.
