“隶定古文”及古玺印释文问题

On Some Issues in ″Writing Ancient Chinese Characters in the Official Script″ and Interpreting Ancient Seals

"隶定古文"是古文字考释中的一种行为过程及其结果。隶定的对象主要是先秦各种文字,包括不同载体的图像形式。作为古文字考释的中间步骤,隶定有着不同的层次,加之文形态、用法上的复杂性,使隶定常常产生两种甚至多种结果。考察印工具书中诸多"同文异释"现象,实际上多半是以"隶定"作为"释文",且又隶定欠慎、造字不准所致。在当今信息化时代,古文字的研究与应用都企盼实现计算机文字检索,工具书的用字标准化势在必行,因此对隶定也就有了新的要求。

″Writing ancient Chinese characters in the official script″ actually constitutes the process and result of conducting the research and interpretation of the meanings of ancient characters.The characters referred to are mainly those written in the pre-Qing styles of Chinese calligraphy（e.g.seal characters）,including various pictographic styles.As an intermediate step in the process of the research and interpretation of ancient Chinese characters,such ″special writing″ shows different levels.Due to its complexity,the said ″writing″ may produce several outcomes.One outcome is the different interpretation of the same character.This is most probably because ″writing in the official script″ replaces the ″interpretation of meaning″ and is itself both less careful and less accurate.As the research and application of ancient Chinese characters are expected to be computerized soon in the age of information,the standardization of the use of Chinese characters in reference books is imperative,which sets new requirements for the ″writing″.
