电刷形状和材料与导电塑料电位器的噪声、寿命及可靠性关系甚大。当电位器寿命要求在５０００万次以内时，可用多指电刷或多指耙式电刷；而超过５０００万次时，只能用后者。常用电刷材料是钯铂银铜合金。

Wipers' shape and material have a strong effect on the noise, life and reliability. When the life requirement is below 50 M cycles, finger wipers or rake finger wipers can be used; when over 50 M cycles, only the later caon be used. The common used wiper material is Pd/Pt/Ag/Cu alloy.
