A Narrative Analysis of the Story of the Kitchen God's in the Kitchen God's Wife

"灶神"故事是中国人耳熟能详的寓言故事。在谭恩美的小说《灶神之妻》中,"灶神"故事与小说中雯妮与文福的故事的完美契合不仅说明了谭恩美对中国神话故事的独特阐释,也体现了"灶神"故事对建构整部小说的作用。其新颖的立意、二元性叙事结构和对小说的情节预设功能都充分体现了作者高超的叙事技巧。

The story of the Kitchen God is a household Chinese fable. In Amy Tan＇s novel the Kitchen God＇s wife, he nicely joins the story of Kitchen God with that of Winnie and Wen-Fu, which manifests Tan＇s special understanding of this Chinese fairy-tale, and his narrative strategy of new conception. His original conception, narrative dualism and the structural presupposition in the construction of the whole story are of great narrative arts.
