《红楼梦》中不仅塑造了各具特色、具有永恒艺术魅力的人物形象,而且还留下了一座凝固的艺术形象———大观园。其中"潇湘馆"、"蘅芜院"、"怡红院"、"稻香村"、"秋爽斋"等无一不体现着多样统一的形式美,组成了一幅气韵生动的建筑图画。这些建筑的环境描写与人物的性格、情感及其命运的遭际、结局紧紧地统一融合在一起。尤其是对潇湘馆的描写,与主人公命运的发展达到了高度的协调一致。
A Dream of Red Mansions not only created figures with distinguishing qualities and immortal artistic charms, but also left behind a coagulated artistic image the Grand View Garden. Among the garden, ＂Xiaoxiangguan＂, ＂Heng- wuyuan＂, ＂Yihongyuan＂, ＂DaoxJangcun＇, and ＂QiushuangZhai＂ etc, all reflected the integrated and diversified formal beauty, and they constituted a poetic and graphic architectural painting. The environmental description on the Grand View Garden knits tightly together with the characteristics, emotions, experiencesand the destiny of the figures. Distinctively those chapters of descriptions on ＂Xiaoxiangguan＂ reached high coordination with the development of the heroine＇s fortune.
