The Non-prototypical Interpretation of Absolute Tense in English

摘要语言和时间的关系密切,时间概念可以通过多种方式在语言中进行编码。传统的观点认为英语的基本或者绝对时态有三类:现在时态、过去时态和将来时态;认知语言学家认为英语的绝对时态有两类:现在时态和过去时态。利用认知语言学中的类典型理论,对英语的绝对时态进行探讨和阐释,可以发现英语时态的非典型意义容易受到忽略,应该是学习的重点。 Language and time has close relationship,and the concept of time can be encoded through language in several modes. In terms of traditional opinion,the basic or abosulte tense can be classified into three categories： present tense,past tense and future tense;cognitive linguists hold that the abosolute tense can be classified into two kinds： present tense and past tense. By making use of prototype theory to make a exploration and interpretation of absolute tense in English, we can find that the non- protorypical meaning of English tense is easily ignored and we should pay more attention to the study of it.
