摘要
《摹仿论》代表了西方学术研究中的一个重要传统,即语文学研究传统。奥尔巴赫通过文体分用/混用的二元视角,对西方文学发展的重要历史线索进行了历史主义的梳理,其目的在于颠覆文体分用的古典主义美学原则,建构独树一帜的现实主义美学范式。他对"现实"与现实主义取更加广义的理解,书写了一部"另类"的现实主义文学史。从学术写作的角度来看,《摹仿论》在选题立论、材料运用、批评方法、行文表达等方面给人以巨大的启发。尽管奥尔巴赫在一定程度上也受到了他的批评方法的制约,但《摹仿论》仍然不失为一部极其优秀的学术理论著作。
Mimesis:The Representation of Reality in Western Literature represents an important tradition of classic philology in European critical scholarship.Erich Auerbach combines stylistics and historical philology with interpretive analysis of specific literary passages from European literature since Homer,with an intention to subvert the classicist rule of differentiated styles and to establish a unique paradigm of literary realism that highlights the mixture of styles.As an academic work,Mimesis is highly innovative and provocative in spite of some of its limitations.
