The early German Romantics, inspired by the divine silence and melancholy in Nature and the longing for the salvation of human beings through the forces in Nature, have in fact launched a rebellion against the mainstream European modern philosophy which largely ignores the role of Nature. For the early German Romantics, the so-called 'revelation' and 'interpretation' are in essence the dialogue between Man and Nature, the ideal state of which consists in the perfect unity of truth and Nature.Such a unity constitutes the central meaning of the new mythology of Romanticism, which is rooted in the pagan Gnostic tradition.
