This paper mainly describes the characteristics and the research progress of the energy storage luminescent coatings both at home and aboard. Rare earth activated alkaline earth metal aluminate coatings are the most representative varieties of energy storage luminescent coatings at present. They have high luminescence brightness, long afterglow time and environmental security properties, and possess good application prospects.
