Time charter-party is popular in maritime transportation industry. Captains would meet with some special disputes between ship owner and charterer under the time charter-party. It is important for captains to cope with these problems for fulfilling charter-party contracts favorably. Based on some real examples, suggestions are given to show the stand, viewpoint and method that a captain should take to safeguard all parties＇ interests in the disputes under time-charter, thus to ensure the smooth implementation of contracts and to avoid claims arising from the disputes between ship-owners and charterers.
