本文从世界经济总体上分析了21世纪环太平洋区域经济发展趋势；在香港回归祖国后为谋求经济持续发展，提出了要扬长避短，保持和发挥香港的自身优势等问题；为适应形势变化，指出了不断探索、培育新的经济增长点，走以质量、创新、信息取胜的道路。
This article analysizes comprehensively the economic development trends of the Pacific - rim region in the 21st century in the context of global economy. It propoSes some suggestions on maximizing Hong Kong's advantages and side - stepping its disadvantages for sustaining and exerting itself's superiority for acquiring an enduring development after its return to the motherland. It puts forward the need for probing and nurturing incessantly of new economic growth point for adapting to the changed situation and following the way to win by means of quality, creation and information.
