浅谈汉语叠词的英译

On the English Translation Of Chinese Reduplicated Words

在汉语中叠词是一种常见的语言现象,叠词韵律紧凑,在文中有很强的表现力和感染力,故在汉语中的使用频率很高。汉语为此,英语亦然。但是由于中英文间不同的表达方式,汉语中叠词很难有效的翻译成英语。通过对两种语言的特点、用法进行比较,初步提出了一些汉语中叠词的英译方法,并就此进行了较为详细的分析和总结。

Reduplicated words are a common language phenomenon in Chinese. The usage of reduplicated words is a typical artistic means to display the beauty of Chinese language, including rhythms, forms and images. However, because of the different ways of expression between Chinese and English, reduplicated words are difficult to be translated literally. Based on the analyses of some related characteristics of both English and Chinese, this paper suggests some tentative ways to translate the reduplicated words in Chinese into English. Furthermore, combined with the basic skills and structure, this paper tries to explore more deeply on how to translate them so that the translated works still can keep the original works＇ style, images and beauty perfectly. At last, this paper cites some classical poems and proses about their using of reduplicated words and their translation works by famous translators to illustrate the skills by comparison, explanation and more detailed analyses.
