Research Methods in Language and Gender Studies Abroad

本文旨在介绍语言与性别研究各个发展阶段的研究方法,并评价各种方法的主要贡献和不足。本文指出,面临新时期的研究课题,学科交叉和方法创新势在必行,不同方法之间的商榷和对话将成为该领域的一大热点。这种研究将有助于国内学者加深对西方语言与性别研究方法的了解,促进我们的本土研究。

This paper aims to review the main research methods in language and gender studies. It focuses on the field methods or ana- lytic frameworks, major contributions and limitations of each method. It also points out that intellectual cross-fertilization and innovation of research methods are necessary in dealing with new issues and that dialogues between different approaches will be one of the most prominent features in the field. It is hoped that this paper will help Chinese scholars deepen their understanding of research methods in language and gender research and thus will promote nativized studies in the field.
