摘要
The influence of olfactory stimulation on the behavior of the tokay Gekko gecko was investigated by using conditioned place studies (CPS). Tokay geckos were conditioned to the smell of honey as a reward stimulus. Amyl acetate smell served as an aversive stimulus. The retention period for geckos in the chamber with honey odour increased, while that with amyl acetate odour decreased when compared with pre-conditioning tests. This indicates that the ambient smell has obvious influences on behavior. The stimulation of geckos was related to the chamber, and then the geckos remembered the chamber via training. After the smell stimulation was cancelled, the retention period in the chamber changed. These results show that olfactory learning and memory is likely to be important in the foraging activities of tokay geckos .
