Authors reequiped a Four - ball Tester as for contact fatigue tester and carried out a series of tests to study the effect of additives on 45 steel contact fatigue. The contact fatigue tester has high contact stress, small volume, low noise, low consumption of test sam-pl, stable driving system and reliable results. The test results show that the mutual and comprehensive effects of different additives are the main factors which affect on 45 steel contact fatigue.
