By the use of modularity designing method this paper discussed a process of designing a kind of small-sized versatile machine tools urgently needed by the market.Based on functional analysis the authors determined a scheme of optimum principle,carried out designs by applying modularity method and thus let the machine tools posses compact structure,low cost and superb performance.
