On the Origins of Characters and Literature is an important works by Luxun which expounds the origin, development, and reforms of literal characters. Its part covering literature ingeniously expounds the relationship between the origin of literature and physical labor and practice of human beings, affirms the positive roles of civilian literature in the development of national culture, and points out the standpoints and attitudes a man of letters should take.
