Historically festivals and its festivities are the important part of mass culture. It is also true in Taiwan. They have infiltrated people's daily life and been loved and joined by people. The ruling authorities often use their political power to influence the content of the festivals and the direction of the celebrations, and create a social atmosphere beneficial to their ruling. Though the associated rewritings are often opposed by the Opposition and the common people, they have had some actual effects on the cultural identity of people so long as the festival's policies are gradually refined and adopted.
