Shen Congwen＇s poetic theory is based on the close reading of poetic works with much attention to the care of people and the poets＇ accomplishment of personalities, reference to the folk-song and the dialect, classical portry and the words of foreign origin. His prosody theory includes two categories ： intrinsic rhythmical image and extrinsic one. All his poetic theory reveals his unique thinking and academic character.
