The power line carrier technology is applied in the ward calling system designed with the MCU （MCS51）, in which the specific power line carrier encoding format by the authors is used to send data through the power line. The paper introduces the cod- ing schemes and the hardware constitution, analyses the working principles and the software flows of all the parts. The system does not require special wiring for the data transmission, which is suitable for the old ward reformation. The system is of some feasibility and some application value.
