Traditions and Innovations——Reflections on the Public Spirit and New Services of Public Libraries

文章阐述了公共图书馆的本质属性和服务宗旨,将公共图书馆的公益服务视为传统的精华,对其现状进行了分析,提出了公共图书馆在构建公共文化服务体系建设的实践中,应充分体现公益性。文章认为延伸服务是传统服务的创新,对公共图书馆开展延伸服务的现状;指出了存在的问题,并提出了公共图书馆开展延伸服务的对策。

The paper first explains the core nature and ultimate aim of public libraries, regarding their public services as the essence of their traditions. After analyzing the current situation of their public services, the author proposes that these libraries should fully exert their influence as public welfare establishments in the process of constructing public cultural service system. The author claims that those additional and new services are innovations introduced by public libraries. Then on the basis of the analysis of the present situation of these innovations, he points out some problems and also recommends some measures to deal with these problems.
