The Mid-Autumn Emotion of the Tang and Song Poets

岁时节令是中国古代诗歌的重要题材之一。在唐代,中秋节作为一项民俗节日尚不显,但已有不少以"八月十五"为题的诗歌,内容多为吟咏月色,思乡怀人,深具自然明朗之美;至宋代,中秋节异常兴盛,但与唐代相比,此时中秋诗作的主旨和风格发生了明显变化——大多重在抒发作者的人生体验,表现人生哲理,呈现出一种深沉凝重的美。唐宋两代诗人中秋情怀的不同及其中秋诗作的各具特色,与两代时代风貌、文化氛围的不同以及由此形成的诗人思想文化性格的巨大差异密切相关。

The season and holiday was one of the most important topics of Chinese ancient poems. In the Tang Dynasty, the Mid-Autumn Day was not so eminent as a festival; however, there were many poems with the title ＂August 15^th＂, intonating the moon or nostalgia, demonstrating a kind of natural and eanty beauty. The Mid-Autumn Day becamevery popular in the Song Dynasty. However, the theme and style of these poems were quite different from that of the Tang Dynasty, which usually expressed the author＇s sense or philosophy of life and demonstrated a kind of weighty and calmative beauty. The different emotion between the Tang and Song poets and their works had much relation with the difference of the age and the great diversity of the poets＇ thought and cultural character.
