The electromechanical characteristics of ion polymer-metal composite (IPMC) with Pt as its electrodes is investigated. After the introduction of the working principle of electromechanical actuation, the effect of water molecular contained within IPMC was analyzed, and the internal current and displacement response of IPMC were measured under DC and AC voltage. Different driving waves form with several peak voltages were applied to the IPMC actuator, after which a comparison of response characteristics was studied and the best driven wave, frequency was offered, which might serve for the application in the future.
