摘要
当前我国外语教学改革的重要课题之一,是深入研究教师在课堂教学中所应扮演的角色,并迅速完成其角色转换。外语教师应该花大力气去研究如何引起学生学和帮助学生学,以培养能力为目标,进行精心细致的备课,用实践活动作课堂教学的主线,使外语课堂教学从知识灌输型转化为能力培养型。如此,则必然给外语课堂教学带来革命性变化,实现大幅度提高外语教学质量的目标。
One of the most important tasks of foreign language teaching reform in our country is to go deep into the problem of what role the foreign language teacher should play in the classroom, and to complete the role shift that follows. The traditional theory of FLT believes that the teacher is the subject and the students the objects in the classroom. Urged by this belief, the teacher en- deavors to gain "the art of teaching", without paying due attention to the objective reality of the students. On the other hand, the modern theory of FLT maintains that it is the students rather than the teachers who are the genuine subjects and that the object is the knowledge and technique that the students intend to learn. In the classroom, the teacher works as an organizer, an instructor, a helper as well as a supervisor. He is the director who plays the guiding role. Therefore, he should try his best to guide and help his students in learning. He should carefully prepare his lectures in pursuit of his students' ability development and make lan- guage practice the main body of his lecture so that classroom teaching may change from knowledge instillation to ability cultivation. Such a role shift will surely bring about revolutionary changes in foreign language classroom teaching and achieve the goal of considerable improvement in teaching quality.
