摘要
应用双边市场理论,研究软件市场的产业效率与福利影响。研究落脚于市场中应用软件的均衡种类,为操作系统厂商占据产业主导地位提供了解释,并指出开放源操作系统能改善市场应用软件供应不足的现象,但同样不能实现社会最优。研究同时揭示了操作系统中应用程序接口(API)设计的经济学内涵:是操作系统厂商协调应用软件生产、促进双边繁荣的平台设计策略。
This paper applies the two sided markets, the forefront in IO, to the analysis of software industry. We find out the reason why operation system firm like microsoft can dominate the whole industry. And in terms of efficiency, that is the varieties of application software available in the market, open-source can perform better than proprietary ones. However, neither can achieve the social optimum. This paper also gives an economic illustration to the design of application programming interfaces.
