As a new research subject, Chinese text structure annotation faces various challenges, such as establishing the theoretical framework, defining basic discourse units, setting up the abstract Chinese text structure, etc. However, we can get profound implications from the research by foreigners on annotation of English text structures in the framework of Rhetorical Structure Theory.
