A High-tech Olympic Opening Ceremony The spectacular opening ceremony of the Beijing Olym- pics stunned the world with its rich cultural content and use of advanced technologies.Light-emitting diodes(LEDs) were installed throughout the entire stadium,and an LED screen measuring 147 meters long and 22 meters wide was placed in the center of the arena.To achieve the ceremo- ny’s dazzling effects,around 44,000 LEDs were-embedded within the screen,and a host of new technologies were used,including sophisticated fireworks launchers able to control the tempo and altitude of the explosions.
