On Liquids

语音学/音系学中特别的类——流音——不是一个按照调音部位和调音方式所划分的严格的语音学的类。流音下属边音和日音。日音也是一个特殊类。流音和日音可以看作是按照"家族相似性"聚拢的类。本文讨论了这些音的声学和生理性质,并讨论了汉语方言和民族语中少见的颤音、拍闪音例子。

The liquid is a special group of sounds in phonetics as well as in phonology. It is not a groupclassified with regard to articulatory places or manners. There are two sub-sets of sounds under the liquid： laterals and rhotics; the latter is also a special group. Both liquids and rhoties are grouped in terms of family resemblance. This paper discusses the acoustic and physiological properties of liquids, and presents field findings of rarely seen rhotic sounds in Chinese dialects and minority languages：
