Confronting the severe Competition, manufacturers are seeking for shortening the time to market in order to win Customers. This is why the Agile Manufacturing comes out. Die are the main tools for sheet metal parts. However dies need a very long throughput time, so how to cut down this time is really a serious problem. In this paper, a new constructive principle of flexible dies for agile manufacturing is presented. Dies based on such a principle have been successfully implemented in labs, and show it is a practical and feasible way for future development of die construction.
