摘要
塞巴斯蒂安既是田纳西.威廉斯的戏剧《去夏骤至》中的"隐性人物",也是理解该剧的关键人物。文章从两个方面分析其性格特征,揭示了他既是受到精神和性压抑的受害者,又是残忍变态的剥削者;在此基础上,进一步分析其悲剧人生的根本原因,阐释该剧的道德意义。
Being ＂invisible＂ in Tennessee Williams＂ Suddenly Last Summer, Sebastian Venable never- theless plays a critical role in the understanding of the drama. This paper analyzes Sebastian＇s character from two perspectives, exposing him both as a victim of spiritual and sexual repression and as an exploiter with cruelty and perversion. The fundamental cause to his tragic life is further studied to reveal the moral significance of the play.
