The question of what homeschooling is and the origin and development of American homschooling and the reasons for the emergency of homeschooling in America are presented. The features of American homeschooling and its influence on China＇ educational theory and practice are discussed. It is concluded that the model sig- nificance of American homeschooling for China＇s education lies in three aspects： updating educational philosophy and recognizing parents＇ important role in children＇s education; strengthening cultivating children＇s creativity; establishing the cooperation between parents and schools to achieve better education.
