关于中医药学科有关英文名词翻译的商榷

Discussion on the English-Edition Translation for the Glossary Used in Traditional Chinese Medicine

中国文化色彩浓厚的中医药学科词汇一直是学术翻译的难点,以往的做法多采用意译法。然而这种翻译方法往往采用多个英语单词甚至一个句子来表示一个中医药学科词汇,很大程度上不利于学术翻译和学术交流。本文以中医药学的英文翻译Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)一词入手,探讨中医药学科词汇以及相关词汇的翻译方法,并提出一种采用英语构词法的方式进行翻译。

It is a difficult task to make translation from Chinese glossary, especially with strong characteristics of Chinese culture, to English in academic communication, and the task is always performed by way of meaning translation currently. However, the meaning translation is usually achieved by using several words, even a cluster of words, to translate one Chinese word, which still makes big obstacles in academic communication. Therefore, we discussed the old problems in a novel opinion beginning with the wildely used Chinese expression ＂ Traditional Chinese Medicine （TCM）＂. We also suggested an alternative method used to translate Chinese glossary associated with English wordbuilding.
