The article summarizes the technology of facsimile communication over IP network, and gives a method of implementing and integrating a T. 38 endpoint in SIP UA. The T. 38 endpoint, which adopts SIP as its line control signaling, is an entity that performs both the T. 38 gateway and T. 30 facsimile equipment functions. The extended SIP UA can inter-operate with Group 3 facsimile equipment, sending and receiving image documents real-timely.
