Lu Chuan Short Lyrics and Method of Poetic Creations of the Jiangxi Sect of Poets

张元干诗学江西,思想上也与江西诸人相近。南渡之后他援江西诗法入词,形成了以议论为词、以文为词的新风尚;时代的巨变和个人遭际使他将感慨悲凉的情绪纳入歌词;为了加大词的容量,创作中他又大量使用经史子集以及佛典中的典故,从而形成了南宋词的一大代表性特征。张元干词的这一系列新变使他开南宋词坛一大宗——辛派词人的先河。

Zhang Yuangan was influenced by Jiangxi sect of poets, his poetic style and thoughts similar to the Jiangxi poets. After Northern Song dynasty, he wrote short lyrics with the method he learned from poets of Jiangxi sect and created a new style of short lyrics of comments and verse. In addition, he expressed emotions solemn and stirring in his short lyrics because of the change of times and harsh personal circumstances. In order to enlarge the contents of the short lyrics, he induced lots of literary allusions from the ancient classics and Buddhist scriptures into his creation, which formed a characteristic feature of the style of the Southem Song short lyrics. All these new deploitations made Zhang Yuangan the forerunner of the School of Xin Poets, a famous school of poets in the Southem Song dynasty under the leadership of the poet Xin Qiji.
