Dickens and Hugo expressed their revolution opinions by Carlton in A Tale of Two Cities and Gauvain in Quatre-vingt-treize who were the victims of immaculate humanism. One pursued for love and the other for moral ideality and human beliefs. The two authors respectively represented the opposite viewpoint of love and hatred, humanism and revolution because of their different social, historical environment and ideals, which reflect the different philosophical viewpoint of Empiricism and Continent Rationalism in the nationality style of England and France.
