摘要
美国现代戏剧家尤金.奥尼尔在《送冰的人来了》中运用各种意象,描绘了20世纪美国社会底层人民精神生活的困境,从而展现出美国物质生活与精神生活的严重失衡。本文从象征意义的角度对剧名、角色和场景进行分析,得出这部戏剧就是人类生存困境的隐喻和象征。
Eugene O Neil, American modem playwright, describes human＇s existential predicament of American lower class people with a variety of images in The Iceman Cometh and displays unbalance between material life and spiritual life. This paper analyzes the symbolic meanings of the name, characters and scenes in The Iceman Cometh and concludes that this play is a symbol of human boing＇s existential predicament.
