The Weapon of the Weak:A Tentative Study on the Reasons Why Women in Song Dynasty Committed Suicide

以资料所见121例宋代女性自杀现象为研究基础,分析其自杀原因。认为宋代女性自杀原因大致分为个人型、社会型、综合型三类,其共同性质都属于女性在生活平衡被打破以后,被迫用自己的身体进行的消极反抗。

The authors of present thesis base their study on 121 suicide cases of women in Song Dynasty with the purpose of analyzing the causes behind the phenomena. By doing so, the authors draw the conclusion that the reasons for those women to commit suicide can be roughly classified as the individual type, the social type and the synthetic type, while the underlying reason for the suicide can be summarized as that women are forced to use their own bodies to carry out the passive resistance after the balance of their life is upset.
