The printing technology five dynasties and ten kingdoms constitute a special epoch in Chinese history. It comes into from the late Tang dynasty, and, simultaneously, heralds the growth and prosperity of book inscribing culture during the Northern Song dynasty. Kingdom of Wuyue is a historically significant country where printing cultural tradition thrives. Proceeding from its state policies to protect land and to pacify the people, it pays tribute and courtesy to the orthodox central kingdoms, and attracts throngs of cultural immigrants with knowledge about book printing. All this ensures the steady growth of book inscribing culture coming down from the late Tang dynasty, and provides the Northern Song dynasty with technicians and technical support required to print master copies and collate books. It is thus necessary to probe into the printing culture and tradition of Kingdom of Wuyue.
