The writer identity in Chinese and American college students' English argumentation writings is explored from the perspective of cultural differences between Chinese and American. It is concluded that, influenced by American individualistic culture, American college students use I in their writings frequently in order to make clear their own point of view, however, influenced by Chinese collectivistic culture, Chinese students use we instead of I frequently in their English writings and therefore create a collectivized voice.
