Katherine Mansfield is a famous modernistic writer, whose subjects of writing are mainly associated with misfortunes of families and marriages. By means of modernistic techniques, her novel A Dill Pickle focuses on the theme of the sense of loneliness and disillusion by using the flower symbolism. Based on Mansfield＇s life experiences, this paper analyses the symbolic meanings of such flowers as marigold, geranium and candock, etc, which is helpful for the understanding of the theme of the novel.
