Pragmatic Ambivalence and Conversational Implicature

从语用模糊和会话含义的经典例证中可以看出,两者经常并存。为了找到两者之间的关系,分析了它们的相同点和不同点,它们都属于间接语言现象,都依赖语境,却在本质、实现手段、与语义的关系等方面明显不同。通过分析,发现两者之间存在着一定的特殊关系,语用模糊往往产生会话含义,而且依赖特定语境产生特殊会话含义;而含义的理解与否、交际能否成功,要看交际双方对共处的语境和对彼此的认知环境的把握程度。

Pragmatic Ambivalence and Conversational Implicature tend to coexist, as can be noticed in the typical examples of the two. Similarities and differences between the two are then analyzed so that the relationship of them can be found out. On the basis of the analysis, it is found that the use of pragmatic ambivalence, depending on a particular context, tends to produce particularized conversational implicature. And the understanding of the implicature is determined by the mutual manifestation of the cognitive environment of the communicators and determines whether the communication is successful or not.
