The definition for crisis mine was given in the text. The authors analyzed the crisis degree for the main solid deposit mines in Jiangsu, depicted the crisis degree of energy resources, metallic resources and non-metallic resources, pointed out the main problems existed for the crisis mines ： they were of low guarantee ; sufficient resource potential, but big difficulty in exploration. In terms of Jiangsu proper, the authors promoted some suggestions on potential mineral prospecting in the fields of deep and peripheral areas.
