This paper briefs the application of total base number surveying to the whole course of equipment lubrication management. The main advantage of this method is detecting fake and shoddy oils so that it can be guaranteed that the high grade internal combustion engine oil is in oil tank, thus building up the confidence of replacing imported oil by domestic oil and bringing the enterprises better economic benefits.
