On Shanghai Bankers at the Eve of Liberation in 1949

上海银行家与国民政府的关系,在上海解放前夕,出现了前所未有的变化,不少人对政府已失去信心,因而撤离上海。上海银行家离开上海后都要面临相同的问题:首先,如何过渡;其次,在国共两政权之间如何作一归宿上的选择。而大多数离沪银行家,又都设法通过中间人继续与上海保持着关系。

After the Anti-Japanese War, Shanghai Bankers faced serious situation of rapture between the KMT and the CPC and outbreak of civil war that they had to made some determination. The relation between those bankers and National government experienced unprecedented change. Lots of them lost their confidence and left shanghai. But they endured same difficulties including transition and making choice between two powers of the KMT and CPC. And most of bankers, whether stayed or left, all tried to keep some relation with Shanghai.
