An Understanding of the Discourse Information Function:the Theoretical Frame and Methodology in the English-Chinese Bilingual Translation Process

在英汉汉英互译中,作为关键性因素的语篇信息性,不仅具有语言学的理论基础,而且具有文化学的学科基础。语篇的信息性,可以从宏观和微观的两个角度来把握,同时语篇信息性对构建语篇翻译的理论范式有着重要的启示意义,它可以揭示翻译过程的构建、翻译维度的识解、翻译研究方法的取舍,从而从多角度认识翻译活动的本质以及翻译文本的作用和译者的地位。在具体的翻译实践中,无论是文本取向的翻译,还是译者取向的翻译,都要遵循"信、达、雅"的翻译标准,以忠实源语文本为前提,因为从英汉对比的角度来看,两者可以做到功能对等、语境对应以及语用互补。

In the English-Chinese bilingual translation process, the discourse information, as a key element, boasts both a theoretical foundation in linguistics and an intrinsic connection with the culture subject. The definition of the discourse information can be explored in a macro-structure level and a micro-structure level. Meanwhile, the discourse informativity elaborates a significant illustration on the construction of the translation theoretical flame, including the building of the translation process, the construal ofthe dimension of the translation, the selection of translation methods, therefore the nature of translation activity, the function of the translation text and the status the translators can be realized. In the concrete translation practice, not only the text-oriented translation but also the translator-oriented translation are expected to abide by the translation doctrine -- ＂being faithful, being fluent and being elegant＂ in which faithfulness is the precondition due to the fact that both English and Chinese can be equally treated and evaluated in the aspects of language function, language context and language pragmatic complementation in the contrast of these two languages.
