Pinghu in Winter

“去年年底我们就通知工人们停工了，并且给他们结清了工资，从今年开始我们就不接服装生意了。”电话那头，浙江省平湖市五星工贸（以下简称“五星工贸”）有限公司拉链部门的赵女士有些感伤，在与本刊记者的交谈中她不断地叹气道，“如今的工厂早已失去以往的热闹”。

Pinghu City used to be entitled 'China's Export Garment Manufacturing City' because garment export has long been its featured industry. However, in recent years, as the industrial structure adjustment, RMB appreciation and raising cost of sourcing material and labour, Zhejiang Province and neighbour regions have endured industry reshuffle, Pinghu is inevitable. In fact, 85% of the companies within garment industry in Pinghu is small and medium enterprises, they struggled to live by taking inferior contracts from larger companies'. As the increase of labour, the cost has grown rapidly and broken their bottom line. They have no choice other than transferring into other industries with more profits.
