The Cultural Difference Between China and Western Countries Observed From the Perspective of "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and "The Iliad"

《三国演义》与《伊利亚特》虽然以描写英雄为主,但也描写了一些女性。在两部作品中,不管是在中国还是在西方,女性只是男性的附属品,并无多大的价值可言,但中西方对待女性的态度还是有所不同,从中我们亦可看出中西文化的差异:中国重视政治和道德,而西方则重视个人和人性。形成差异的原因有:地理环境和生活方式不同,文化内核不同。

Although ＂The Romance of the Three Kingdoms＂ and ＂The Iliad＂ focus both their attention on describing hero, they still describes some women as well. No matter in China or in the Western countries , the female character is only the masculine accessories to the man and have little value of themselves. But the difference is still exist between the two cultures. The Chinese emphasized politics and morals, while the western culture emphasized personalities and human nature. The reasons for the differences in culture are as follows, First, the different geographical features and life - styles. Second, the different core of culture.
